Gamifying an Elementary Classroom

How do you get students to be more active participants in their learning? By turning it into a game. Learn how a classroom teacher and a librarian "gamefied" math and reading. Resources will include the "story," the leveling system, how students acquire points, and how the system was implemented and tweaked to assure sustainability.

Shannon Belz has been employed in Manor ISD for 6 years. She has taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade classes. She has been incorporating technology into her classroom since she became a teacher and increased the use of technology since attending the Lead Forward training 2 years ago. She has also done campus level presentations the past couple of years. This past winter, she presented at the Texas Computer Education Association Conference.
