This academy is designed specifically for principals and campus leadership. The day will feature a series of presentations with a focus on the following strands to support your technology integration efforts, provide tools and resources to streamline daily tasks, and keep you up-to-date with current technology issues and trends: Policies and Procedures (legal, legislative, and procedural support), Instructional Tools (resources to support content-specific instruction in the classroom), Changing the Culture of Teaching (professional development and instructional management to provide guidance for the integration of technology in the classroom), and Social Media (effective use of social media as an instructional tool and in public relations).
This academy include a technology update from the Texas Education Association, and a keynote panel with an intriguing discussion from student and leadership perspectives, and featuring a dynamic keynote presentation from Steve Dembo. As a former kindergarten teacher and school Director of Technology, Dembo is a pioneer in the field of educational social networking. Currently serving as Discovery Education’s Director of Social Media Strategy and Online Community. Dembo was among the first educators to realize the power of blogging, podcasting, Twitter, and other Web 2.0 technologies in connecting educators and creating professional learning communities.
